Our story

It all started in college....

That´s how a lot of great stories start, including this one. I was studying at one of the world´s best universities, Lund University. Never before had I felt surrounded by so many intelligent women at once - it was truly liberating. Yet, during one of our conversations, a subject which I had thought to be quite medieval and most outdated came up as if it was yesterday´s new Vogue article - the idea of having your boyfriend controlling your finances. One of my friends said, "No, I do not have to know anything about my own finances or entrepreneurship - my long term boyfriend knows everything about that and has full control over my money!". To say that I was in shock was an understatement. Me, being the redheaded woman that I was and still am, got furious with this. I knew that it wasnt´t my place to make a statement, but just hearing about the conversation being spoken so mundanely awoke a fury in me. So.... I decided to start an Instagram account. On the account, I began sharing my own stock strategies, money-saving tips and book recommendations - in the hope of it finding the right audience. 

I kept posting regularly on the Instagram page, and a few weeks later, the girls who had agreed with our friend regarding finances all came to me for financial advice. Quite shocking, isn't it? All the girls who said "My boyfriend controls my money" came to ME for help?! ME?! Being only 21 at the time, I couldn´t fathom that people wanted to come to little old me for advice regarding their life savings. 

The requests soon became more than just individual discussions -  it became a network of yung, ambitious women who wanted to learn more in a time where "trad wife" seemed to be the new "big thing" for women in their 20´s. A gang of girls who studied, who worked, and most important of all - girls who dared to dream. 

After starting my first company in 2025, Equigent of Sweden, I decided to seek help from the University through its LU Innovation initiative, primarily to get my vital documents in order. Then, after having attended one of their events, where I was the only woman participating, I decided to present an idea to them. What if we, together, attempted to engage young women in the entrepreneurial field? ..... And so the "Build Like A Girl" concept was born. Late last year, we held our first event together and had the pleasure of hosting Anahita Vazvan from Vegan Delights. The event became a success, and engaged young women from all over the world, who were either BSc, MSc or Phd students. 

Today, we are aiming to further engage young, capable women and girls to educate themselves, network, and further discover the field of business! FemQuity truly is a likeamineded girl-gang for everyone who wants to learn.
